Use the Microsoft Authenticator

Microsoft Authenticator is a mobile multifactor authentication app that generates time-based codes for LastPass using Two-Step Verification.

Important: LastPass recommends that admins complete the steps for enabling multifactor authentication in the Admin Console.

Limitations and compatibility

One-tap push notifications and 6-digit SMS code authentication are not supported with this mobile authenticator.
If you have a LastPass Teams, LastPass Business or LastPass Business Max account, your LastPass admin's security policies may limit or restrict certain actions.
You cannot enable both Microsoft Authenticator and Google Authenticator as multifactor authentication options at the same time.
If you are currently using Google Authenticator and want to switch to Microsoft Authenticator, follow the migration instructions for your role in:
- Migrate from Google Authenticator to Microsoft Authenticator as an admin
- Migrate from Google Authenticator to Microsoft Authenticator as a user
