Install and log in to LastPass for Safari on Mac

Get started with LastPass by downloading, installing, and logging in to the LastPass for Safari browser extension on your Mac.

Note: If you log in to your LastPass Business account through an identity provider (for example, AD FS, Microsoft Entra ID, Okta, Google Workspace, PingOne, PingFederate, or OneLogin), see Access LastPass using federated login for detailed login instructions.

Limitations and compatibility

LastPass for Safari is supported on a Mac running either of the 2 most recent major macOS versions, and a 64-bit processor is also required.
Federated login is supported only in the LastPass for Safari (v4.130.0 or later).

Open the App Store application on your Mac.
If you are not logged in already, log in with your Apple ID.
Navigate to LastPass for Safari.
Select Get.
Once installed, select Open.
When prompted by the LastPass for Safari screen, select Open Safari Settings.
On the Extensions screen, enable LastPass for Safari in the left column.

Troubleshooting: If you have more than one LastPass browser extension listed, only enable LastPass for Safari, version 4.133.1 and above. Disable or uninstall all other LastPass browser extensions.
Optional: Enable the Allow in Private Browsing setting.
In Permissions, select Always Allow on Every Website.
Close the Extensions screen.

Result: You have installed and enabled LastPass for Safari on your Mac. You can now open Safari to start using LastPass for Safari.
Open the Safari browser.
Select the extension icon in the Safari toolbar.
On the login screen, enter your email address and master password, then select Log In.

Results: You have successfully installed, enabled, and logged in to LastPass for Safari on your Mac and accessed your vault.
