Step #1: Create an account
To get started with LastPass, create a new account by starting a free trial or purchasing LastPass. See Create an account for instructions.
Step #2: Install the LastPass browser extension and log in
For the most seamless experience, install and log in to the LastPass browser extension. It can be used for all of your password management needs without ever having to navigate away from the website you're to fill login credentials into. For instructions, see Install and log in to the LastPass browser extension.
** Remember: If you are unable to install the LastPass browser extension, you can still log in to your LastPass account and access your vault through the LastPass website. However, in this case LastPass will not autofill your stored data for sites. For more information, see Log in to your vault.
Step #3: Add passwords and passkeys
LastPass will prompt you to remember your credentials when you log in to a website. If you approve, your credentials will be safely stored in your LastPass vault. Next time you visit that website, LastPass will fill in your credentials for you. For more information, see Add a password and Add a passkey.
Alternatively, you can import passwords from a browser, a password manager, or other source. For more information, see Import passwords from other sources into LastPass.
Step #4: Use LastPass
LastPass will prompt you to remember your credentials when you log in to a website. If you approve, your credentials will be safely stored in your LastPass vault. Security
Enable multifactor authentication for LastPass Set up multifactor authentication to add extra security to your LastPass account by requiring a second login step before authorizing access to your vault.
Manage passwords and passkeysAdd website data to LastPass to store all of your passwords and passkeys in one centralized vault, where you can add, edit, delete, and share them.
Generate secure passwordsAs a security best practice, use LastPass to generate secure and randomized passwords for your sites. LastPass will then store these passwords for the website.
Use the Security DashboardIdentify security weaknesses in your vault items using the Security Dashboard. It displays your security score, which is the rating of how strong your passwords generally are, and shows at-risk passwords that are weak or reused within your vault.

Store non-password items in your vault, such as notes with attachments or custom items that are used to easily fill online web forms (for example, addresses, payment cards or bank account details).
Configure your preferences in Account Settings and in the LastPass browser extension tailor LastPass to your needs by editing your settings and preferences.

Allow LastPass to automatically fill login credentials and log you in to the site when you visit it.
Use the Sharing centerShare an item stored in your vault with another LastPass user through the Sharing Center. If you change your mind after you have shared an item, you always have the ability to revoke access to it.
