You can export your LastPass vault data as a CSV file and save it.
Limitations and compatibility
- These steps can only be performed using the LastPass browser extension.
- Exporting attachments is not supported when exporting your LastPass vault data.
- Exporting TOTP codes for password items (that is, one-time passcodes you generate within your vault) is not supported.
- If you have a LastPass Teams or LastPass Business account, the ability to perform these actions may be limited or prohibited due to policies enabled by your LastPass admin.
- As an administrator enable the "Prohibit export" policy to disable the export option for the LastPass vault data (including passwords, notes, form fills, Wi-Fi passwords, and so on). For more information on enabling and disabling policies, see Manage general policies.
- Custom item types and custom fields are not supported during import or export.
Export vault data from LastPass as a generic CSV file
- In your web browser toolbar, select the inactive (gray or black) LastPass icon.
- Enter your email address and master password, then select Log In.
- If prompted, complete steps for multifactor authentication (if it is enabled on your account).
- Select the LastPass icon in your browser toolbar.
- Select the Account tab, then go to Fix a problem yourself > Export vault items > Export data for use anywhere.
- If prompted, enter your master password.
- Optional: Select Do not re-prompt for and use the drop-down menu to select a time interval.
- Select Continue.
Result: A CSV file containing your data is downloaded.
Note: When exporting a CSV file in LastPass for Safari, the file will be opened in a separate browser tab. Right-click on the tab and select Save Page As.... In the pop-up window, enter a name for your CSV file, choose a location to save it and select Save.
Results: You have successfully exported your LastPass vault data in CSV format.
Important: If you decide to make changes to the exported CSV file, you must use lowercase text for all column headers.
