LastPass Access Issues
1. Trouble Logging In
Issue: Security message "Check your credentials or check your email for a verification request from LastPass"
How to fix it:
- Make sure youâre using the correct email address for your LastPass account.
- If you feel confident in the correct password entry, then check your Spam, Business, and Blocked email folders for any hidden communications from LastPass.
- Check for typos in your Master Password by typing it out in a separate document, being careful of any uppercase letters, numbers, symbols, and avoid any spaces.
- Try logging in from another browser or in a private browsing window.
- Disable browser extensions that might block scripts (ad blockers, privacy tools).
2. Lost or Forgotten Master Password
Issue:Â You forgot the account password and canât log into LastPass
How to fix it:
- There are several ways to recover your account password, depending upon your account settings, local device in use, and web browser used for previous logins.
- These methods include recovery one-time-passwords tied to the local device cache, any OTPs that you created previously, SMS codes, as well as biometrics integrations for iOS and Android.
- You may start by clicking "Forgot password" at the LastPass login screen, and if the device has enough cache personal data, LastPass will send an email with a recovery link inside.
- If you updated the account password within the last 30 days, you may still revert to that save point by following these instructions, however this action cannot be reversed once completed.
- If you're not sure what state the account currently sits in, you may use the "Request help" button within the main recovery article to receive an email follow up from LastPass Support.

Issue:Â Youâre locked out because your 2FA codes arenât working or your device is lost.
How to fix it:
- Make sure your phoneâs time/date is set to âAutomaticâ (TOTP requires accurate time).
- If you set a backup MFA option, then you may switch to that method instead.
- If you registered a backup phone number, try verifying with that device.
- Disable the MFA requirement via email (available for most authenticators)
- If you've integrated the LastPass Authenticator, use the "Request help" button within that specific recovery article.
4. Canât See My Passwords or Vault Items
Issue:Â Vault loads but items look missing.
How to fix it:
- Refresh the page or log out and log back in.
- Make sure youâre logged into the correct LastPass account.
- Force a sync between your LastPass Vault data
- Revert the account status to a prior save point, or ask Customer Support for assistance
5. Problems with the Browser Extension
Issue:Â The LastPass extension doesnât open, wonât autofill, or shows an error.
How to fix it:
- Remove and reinstall the LastPass app
- Make sure third-party cookies are allowed (required for login).
- Check for browser updates and restart your browser.
- Disable extensions that may block scripts or popâups.
- Log out of LastPass, then log back in.
6. Autofill Not Working
Issue:Â LastPass wonât autofill usernames/passwords on websites.
How to fix it:
- Make sure youâre logged into the extension (the active color will turn red).
- Confirm autofill is turned on in your LastPass extension settings.
- Check if the website login form or URL has changedâLastPass may need a manual update.
- Try re-saving the login by entering credentials and selecting âAdd to LastPass.â
7. Not Receiving LastPass Verification Emails
Issue:Â You've entered the correct password from a new device but haven't found the emailed verification request from LastPass.
How to fix it:
- Look in Spam, Promotions, or Junk folders.
- Add noreply@lastpass.com to your contacts and try again.
- Confirm your inbox isnât full.
- Check with your email provider if security filters blocked the message.
- Use the "Request Help" button within the primary recovery article to receive an email follow up from Customer Support.
8. Account Locked After Too Many Attempts
Issue:Â You tried logging in multiple times and got locked out.
How to fix it:
- Wait 5â10 minutes â lockouts often reset automatically.
- Try logging in from a different browser or device.
- If enabled, use account recovery to regain access without logging in.
9. Lost Access to the Login Email
Issue:Â Your login email account used for LastPass is no longer accessible.
How to fix it:
- Create a new LastPass account using an email address you can access.
- Use the "Request help" button within the Account Recovery article to receive an email follow up from Customer Support.
- Explain the situation to Support and request device access for the problem account.
- After answering the ID Verification questions and Support has cleared your device for access, delete the new account.
- Update the original login email address or disable the device verification requirement within your online account settings.
10. Payment, Subscription, or Billing Issues
Issue:Â You need help upgrading, downgrading or cancelling your LastPass agreement
How to fix it:
- If you're unable to check the current status through your online LastPass account at lastpass.com , then follow the directions within the "Report a billing problem" article.
- You'll receive an email follow up from Customer Support explaining your options or asking for more information.
