How to get log out when all browsers are closed to work?

Lastpass has recently stopped logging out on closure of all browsers despite the extension settings being configured to do so. This behaviour applies to both Firefox and Edge on Windows 11. I have done everything suggested in the post below. Any other suggestions?

Please follow these steps carefully:

Remove the LastPass extension

Open your internet browser.
Go to the extensions/add‑ons section.
Find LastPass and remove it.

2. Turn off other extensions

If you see any other extensions installed, please turn them off (disable them).
This helps avoid conflicts.

3. Clean your browser

Clear your browser data (cache and cookies).

Now let's clean your internet browser cookies and cache, let's go to the top right corner, click on the 3 dots, then go to Clean Browsing Data, make sure the time frame is set on ALL TIME, and just mark your Cache and cookies, once done.

4. Reinstall LastPass

Install the LastPass extension again.

Try again

Go to your extension and set LastPass to close the session once all browsers are closed.

LastPass Firefox extension: 4.154.2
Windows 11 Pro 64-bit

Description

I believe I have found a reproducible issue with the Firefox extension.

When Firefox is configured to clear cookies and site data on exit, the LastPass extension does not retain the setting "Log out when all browsers are closed".

As a result, the extension automatically logs me back in after Firefox is restarted, even though I have explicitly enabled the logout option.

Firefox Privacy Settings

History: Never remember history
Delete cookies and site data when Firefox is closed: Enabled
No exceptions configured.

Steps to reproduce

Install the LastPass Firefox extension (version 4.154.2).
Ensure the extension icon is shown on the toolbar.
Open the LastPass extension.
Go to Account → Extension Settings → General.
Enable "Log out when all browsers are closed".
Click Save.
Re-open the Extension Settings immediately.

Result

The checkbox remains ticked, indicating that the setting has been accepted.

Close Firefox completely.
Restart Firefox.

Expected behaviour

The extension should require the LastPass master password.
The "Log out when all browsers are closed" option should remain enabled.

Actual behaviour

The extension is still logged in automatically.
The "Log out when all browsers are closed" checkbox has reverted to unchecked.

Additional observations

I reproduced this behaviour using a completely new Firefox profile, so it does not appear to be caused by profile corruption.
If Firefox is reconfigured so that it does not clear cookies/site data on exit, the LastPass setting behaves normally and persists across browser restarts.

This suggests that the extension may be storing this preference in browser storage that is removed when Firefox clears cookies/site data, rather than in extension storage that survives browser restarts.

Could you confirm whether this is expected behaviour or whether it is a defect in version 4.154.2?

This behaviour means users who choose Firefox's strongest privacy settings cannot reliably use the 'Log out when all browsers are closed' security feature.
