I am going to the text message option as the backup in case the authenticator is unavailable. Is there any reason to use a phone numberfor this that is different than the one on which the aunthenticator is installed?
Thank you so much for contacting us today!
When setting up SMS-based account recovery or verification, we strongly recommend using a phone number that belongs directly to you and that you can reliably access whenever needed.
Using someone else's phone number can create challenges in the future, as verification codes and security messages would be sent to that person. If that individual is unavailable, changes their number, or cannot provide the code when needed, you may be unable to access your account when trying to sign in or complete a security verification.
For the best experience and account security, we recommend using a personal phone number that you control and can access at any time.
If you're considering updating your account settings or exploring other recovery options, please let me know. I'll be happy to help you choose the option that best fits your needs and ensures continued access to your account.
Kind regards,

If I use automatic recovery, is the recovery PW that is filled in the same as the forgotten PW or is it an entirely new PW?
