I frequently find LastPass open without being instructed by me
Hello @RSWood
The LastPass browser extension is set to keep the session open after the logging, 2 weeks by default.
You can change the extension settings from your extension menu by going to the browser extension, go to account, extension settings.
Or use the URL below: Edge:
extension://bbcinlkgjjkejfdpemiealijmmooekmp/preferences.html
Chrome: chrome-extension://hdokiejnpimakedhajhdlcegeplioahd/preferences.html
Once there in the General menu Enable the option "Log out when all browsers are closed"
After you enable this option, the session will expire automatically by the time you close the browser.
Always here to help!

I'm having the same problem — I DO NOT want LastPass to be open when I go online. What kind of security is that? Imagine someone steals my computer, or breaks into my house and opens it. I want to sign in myself, with my user ID and my password.
So I tried the extension and I HAD ALREADY enabled "Log out when browsers are closed." So why is it doing it again?
For context: when this started a few weeks ago, I changed my master password, and that helped for a few days, but this morning I opened Chrome and voilà! My LastPass vault wide open to the world. Please help.
Hello @GTL
Welcome to the LastPass Community. We apologize in advance for the issues you have been experiencing using your LastPass account. What you can do is when you are finished working on your LastPass vault, you can manually log out by clicking on the LastPass extension, account log out. This will log you out and when you try to open your LastPass vault again, it will require you to enter your email address and master password.
Please let us know if there is something else we can do for you.

In the comment above, we were instructed to enable "Log out when all browsers are closed" - mine is already enabled, and for the past few weeks now, it is not performing as such. Even after I completely close my browsers and shut down my computer, when I log back in, LastPass is already enabled and available. This is NOT how a secure password keeper should be functioning!
In the past, this has worked just fine, now it is not—seems like you have a bug to fix! Although manually logging out every single time is a workaround, overall it is not a good option when it had been working for all of us previously. When will this be corrected?
Hello @teesir,
Welcome to the LastPass Community!
I would like to know which browser are you using? Is it up to date? Also, can you confirm which version of the LastPass extension you are running in your browser? I have seen that this issue is mostly related to a high volume of cache, cookies, or a sync issue on LastPass. I recommend the following steps:
Note: Before taking any of these steps, please make sure you know your master password!
1. From the LastPass extension refresh your sites by following these steps: Force a sync of vault data using the LastPass browser extension and then clear your cache by following these steps: How do I clear the local cache for my LastPass vault?
2. Proceed to uninstall the LastPass extension, and clear cache and cookies (all time) on the browser. Remember to verify if the browser is up to date if it's Chrome check under Settings > About Chrome.
3. Close completely and reopen the browser, install the extension again, log back in, and verify if the issue persists
