Error updating items in vault

Today I find I cannot update the URL and password for one of the items in my LastPass vault.

I make the edits, and click Save, and I get: "ERROR: Something went wrong. Please try again."

I have tried multiple times with the same result.

I have also logged out and logged back in. The issue persists.

LastPass Customer Support has no option for help with this issue because of my free LastPass account.

Nor can I go forward in reporting a bug because that option is also not available to me.

I am out of options now, except for this post. How can I resolve this?

I wanted to let you know this issue is something we should have fixed very soon. If you need to update individual passwords within your LastPass Vault, the workaround is to use the browser app instead of logging in online.

I apologize for the vault password error there.

Can you help us understand which site urls specifically are causing this behavior?

If you re-install the LastPass app, does this resolve the error?

My LastPass app is on a desktop, not a smartphone, and I'm not about to jeopardize all of that information by trying to reinstall LastPass. I would probably find out that I can no longer install an updated version, and no older version that would work would be available any longer. That would be DISASTER!

I don't have that URL saved any longer. Nor am I certain it was the URL that was the problem. The correct URL is: https://osaa.arbitersports.com

All I observed is that I could not edit the both URL and password for that item in my vault, and save those edits.

My solution was to create a new item in my vault with the correct information, and then I deleted the problematic item.

My ISSUE was, and continues to be, I have NO WAY to contact LastPass Support to report a bug.

@jhculbert Thanks for troubleshooting, though I can assure you re-installing the app will not lose your vault data. if you are a 'free' subscriber of LastPass, then this is the place to continue reporting bugs to the team. If you have a paid subscription, you can also reach Customer Support by phone.

I have the same issue described. I can't update a password registered for a site, I received the same message "ERROR: Something went wrong. Please try again"

I am having the same issue. Tried to update a password and it won't let me. Gives me the error message "ERROR: Something went wrong. Please try again."

But I tested it and it will not let me change ANY other passwords.

Yes there is. I created a new LastPass item with the new URL and password, verified it worked, then deleted the old LastPass item I could not edit. I did not get any resolution from LastPass Support, as they wanted the URL for the old LastPass item, but I had already deleted it. Hope this works for you, too!

My LastPass account, which I access through the URL only, will not allow me to edit ANY of my saved passwords. I could use the work-around method that another user mentioned of deleting the old URL/password and add it again and see if that works. But I obviously cannot do that for ALL of them.

I have been experiencing this same problem. I cannot update some of my older, pre-existing passwords in any way. I can create new records from scratch. This is a problem. Is there going to be a real solution, or will we just have to keep doing this? Create a new record and delete the old one.

I have a had a few errors in the last week when trying to save passwords.

It seems to happen on accounts when my username isn't my standard email address - which happens when some accounts use a scheme number for example.

Is anyone else experiencing this and is it linked to any changes to the set up for the family accounts restricting you to only usernames that are your email address?

This is a problem updating existing passwords.

Same issue here. I can update passwords through the app, but not via desktop / browser.

Having same problem.

Tried Chrome/Chrome Incognito/Firefox and Edge all with same result.

Happens trying to manually update an existing account. The auto update feature, if invoked, will say it updated the entry, but when you go back into LastPass the entry is not updated, then again, trying to manually update the entry it gives the "something went wrong error"

I'm getting errors when saving / updating passwords. I've neer had this issue. Can I get some help? Thanks team! See screenshots. When I log in to LP, then try to edit the password, I still get an error when saving.

If I'm using the chrome extension, the error happens when updating and adding a new item. If I'm on lastpass.com, I can create a new password but not update existing passwords. I CAN update an existing password if I don't change the password. The lastpass.com errors happen on both chrome and safari. Macbook air m1

I've been using Lastpass for a couple years without issue. Within the last week I've been getting the same issue as the rest of the people. ONLY on changing an EXISTING password do I receive the Something has gone wrong issue. This happens whether I use Firefox or Chrome. Absolutely no changes or updates have been made to my system within the last couple weeks. My suggestion is for the developers to try and update their existing passwords on their accounts to see if they experience the same issues, and if they do begin working on a patch

Ash, I have also had this issue for MONTHS now. Pretty much can not change or update ANY password with out doing the work around of starting a new card for the site. This is driving me CRAZY. What is the point of this program if I can not change and save passwords? This is not specific to one site. It is a universal problem I have in trying to change and save any site's passwords. Please advice when this will be fixed?

@cmckee1961 We should have a fix upcoming in a release soon. In some cases you may be able to update vault entries manually in the app instead of the website.

This is happening in the paid version as well. Since I couldn't change passwords this forced me to look at alternate products and the Nordpass product seems very capable. I am on a trial version now, I do like Lastpass interface a little better probably because I'm used to it, but if Lastpass can't fix this ASAP I advise looking at other products.
