For the last hour I've been trying to delete my lastpass account - I've tried the instructions for both with master password (https://support.logmeininc.com/lastpass?articleID=2337306621) and without master password (https://support.logmeininc.com/lastpass?articleID=2337306611). Both of these methods end up with the same error - after clicking through all the confirmation dialogues, the page hangs for a short time and shows the error "Something went wrong, account is not deleted!" (see screenshot below). I would like some help deleting my account, since I am not planning on using lastpass in the future.

Could you please try this method of deleting your account? When you get the email with the link, open the link in an incognito/private tab.
