I wanted to confirm with you this is indeed fake.
LastPass has NOT been hacked. This is an attempt on the part of a malicious actor to draw attention and generate urgency in the mind of the recipient, a common tactic for social engineering and phishing emails.
We recently identified these phishing attempts through customer reports, and wrote up a blog post outlining more details of the attacking parties.
Please take the appropriate precautions and, as always, if you are ever unsure whether a LastPass branded email is legitimate, please submit it to abuse@lastpass.com.

directing me to download an app from lastpassdesktop dot app
I assume this is a phishing attempt, but emailed LastPass support for confirmation.
Definitely a scam. They are masters of deception and looking more official all the time.
