Hello, everyone.
Thanks for your feedback on this topic.
I've shared this experience with our design team and they have confirmed there are usability + visibility improvements underway.
I 100% agree. Seems like an unforced error on their part. At least let us change the font in settings.
Using such an ambiguous font is such a poor oversight in the tdevelopment and planning. It does open the door for other password managers. I've started looking. If they've overlooked such a simple user interface consideration, then what else have them overlooked?
Can we change default Font. It is difficult to differential between letters secure notes, for example.
This is a huge issue -- I have a lot of sites that block the plugin from entering passwords, so I have to type them manually. But too many of the characters are indistinguishable in Lastpass's font.
Same on my side, I ended up with a Notepad++ opened with a list of password, because I cannot automatically fill them in TeamViewer Windows session and differentiate "Il"...
Absolutely right ! and I believe it's such a quick win to add this option.
Such a trivially easy win for them and their customers it makes me seriously wonder why they haven't done it. Its not hard to implement. There are no technical barriers to speak of (unless something is seriously wrong with their code-base). Why isn't LastPass listening to its customers?
I agree! Big problem e.g. when I am typing in a password on my phone.
At least the "show password" box should by default use a better font.
I actually just had a similar issue. The generator created a password with what I thought was a symbol. I even created a ticket because I didn't have anything that looked like it on my keyboard. After much research, I figured it must be a lower case L, even though it looks like a kind of bracket. I have to agree, I prefer they use a font like Times or New Times Roman that clearly differentiates these letters and don't understand why that would be a problem. Or at least allow users to choose.
Has LastPass responded at all to any of this?
It's dumb implementations like this (along with others I've come across)
I've just used the new MS Word default font - Aptos(body) - and it defines these characters well. Might be a better font to use than Times Roman.
Is there an actual update to this other than "I passed this along?" I am about to switch password managers specifically because of this.
Thanks for your patience @rtpmatt
We are actively working on this as part of a larger overhaul, so unfortunately I don't have an exact ETA yet...
How long does it take to change the font???
I have tried using a CSS override plugin in the browser. I can change the font on the whole site to monospaced apart from the input fields that hold things like passwords - so annoying. My current work around is view source / inspect element where the code view is in a distinguishable font.
Bitw@rden has a "use non-ambiguous chars" option.
Hi, Lastpass. Any eta on the font change?
This is a struggle for us as an ICT team aswel, almost weekly people come and question us about the the font.
It would be great if another font would be used that differentiates these letters better.
The font used by Last Pass to enter data (Passwords) is VERY problematic! the letters/numbers 1 L I are hard to differentiate. I found the letter L appeared to be a number 1,
I agree, this is a problem I've been trying to find answers to. I hope this option will come soon. We've had developers ask about it, and just like the OP pointed out, the easiest workaround is to past the passwords into a work processor. And there has to be something better than that.
Its been a year. Has Lasspass improved this? Its such a dumb problem to have. I have issues with this nearly every day, if a password auto generates with any problematic characters I wont use it.
It can't be too hard just to change the default font in the CSS. It must be a matter of priority. When it finally rises to the top of the list, Tahoma or Verdana are good candidates.
They obviously don't care. In less than an hour they could find a free font that gets rid of this horrendous TIME SUCK and FRUSTRATING SILLINESS and let us get on with our lives. Yet they refuse to "until some random time in the future that only they can determine." Helluva selling point. I'm one of 2 out of 95 at my work that still sticks with Lastpass over mostly this issue as we require very complex passwords. Guess I like self-flagellation.
