LastPass already appears logged in when I open my browswer

I recently noticed that my LastPass vault appeared to remain logged in when I reopened Chrome, even after fully closing the browser. Upon checking the extension settings, I found the “Log out when all browsers are closed” option was disabled — enabling it resolved the issue.

I don’t recall this being the default behavior in the past. I saw your release notes were last updated on May 14, and I’m wondering if there were any background changes to session persistence or auto-logout settings around that time.

I’ve worked out how to adjust my settings, but I’d appreciate confirmation if this change was intentional, as it may help explain my experience.

Extension settings can sometimes be affected by different factors, including updates to LastPass. That said, we always aim to preserve your existing preferences whenever possible, so your configuration remains unchanged.

In cases like this, it often relates more to a browser reset or cleanup action rather than a change on our side.

Just to double check, have you recently cleared your browser’s cache and cookies or performed any browser cleanup in the past few days? This can sometimes cause extensions to revert back to their default settings.

As well as basic troubleshooting to ensure automatic logout is working, you may need to confirm your account preferences are also still where you want them to be.

From inside your online Vault:

Select Account settings in the left navigation menu.
On the General tab, select Show Advanced Settings at the bottom of the screen.
In the Security section, go to Auto-logoff.
Use the drop-down menu and select the time interval, at which time you want LastPass to log you out of your vault sessions automatically.
