Hi all,
I’ve been a long‑time LastPass user (10+ years) across both iOS and Android. Over the last 4–5 years I’ve primarily used iOS, where the experience has been much smoother. On my iPhone, LastPass unlocks with Face ID and autofill works reliably in Chrome and other apps.
On Android (Galaxy S26 Ultra), which I'm looking to switch back to for a while, the only biometric that works is the fingerprint reader. Face unlock never works, and LastPass shows a message along the lines of “biometrics is unavailable for this device.”
I’ve searched here, Reddit, and elsewhere, and tried the usual steps:
- Re‑enabling biometrics in Settings → Security
- Checking for app updates
- Re‑registering fingerprints/face in system settings
- Restarting the device
- Uninstalling/reinstalling LastPass to reset biometric permissions
None of these have helped.
What needs to be done to get biometric unlock (including face recognition) working properly on Android?
