I have given access as a family access to 2 assistants. I was told they should not be able to edit or see my passwords and I find out that they can. What do I need to do to fix this, they have "view" only access. Do I have this setup wrong??

I am sorry about the issues you are having with the shared folders. Unfortunately, you can't hide passwords on Shared Folders on Families. You can only prevent the other users to make changes to the items. The ability to hide passwords on Shared Folders is available on Teams and Business, you should be able to hide passwords on individually shared items.
