I was able to delete the desktop app I had and downloaded from the app store the "new" version. It does not open on my mac. No spinning globe, no message. Just doesn't open.
I've started a support ticket.
Note that the browser app is still working.
Hopefully somebody at Lastpass moderates these forums and can provide an answer

We can confirm the recent email it is legitimate and was addressed to all Mac users, for them to be able to complete the update to the desktop Mac App, as indicated in the steps.
If you are using the desktop Mac App and Safari browser extension, please, proceed to follow the steps as indicated. If you have another browser set as default, these steps are not required, as the browser extension is automatically updated.
