Today my 'old' account' refuses me a login. I login into my new account. Works fine. I log out and try to login into the 'old' account. Now that works fine...

In your case I am seeing some failed login attempts in recent history due to an incorrect account password. If you're not using any other autofill application for this purpose, I would also recommend checking to see if there are any spaces being entered when logging the password, as these will cause a failure.
There could also be an issue with cookie storage or acceptance within your web browser. Try clearing out the browser cookies and logging back in with your preferred credentials again.
