Do these users already have a LastPass account with that email address?
Is this occurring for all users, or just some?
The process for adding users to Teams should be working properly unless there is a conflict of the emails within our systems.
Feel free to request a callback from a support specialist if you're still unable to add new members as employees.

About your issue, the best practice is to follow the manually adding users and requesting the users to accept the inviation while login to their account.
