The password of ALL of my items has changed to show as my Lastpass master password, why has this happened and how do I fix it?

The password of ALL of my items has changed to my Lastpass master password. I don't use the master password for anything else, but now all items show this as my password. This was only noticed in recent days as I had shared my email account with my new VA. She was able to access this initially, but now everytime she logs in, she contacts me to let me know that the password isn't working. I will then log in to my Lastpass account and saw that the password of my email account in Lastpass had changed to the Lastpass master password. When it happened a second time, I then checked a number of different Lastpass items and saw that ALL my items had changed to my Lastpass master password, which I had not given out to anyone. I have been unable to find anything anywhere about why my Lastpass account has been compromised in this way - why has this happened, and how can I fix all my passwords and stop this from happening again?

I am sorry about the issues you are having with your passwords. It is possible that the password has not been changed. However, if you have your LastPass Master Password in your browser's in-built password manager it could be replacing the password of those items with the Master Password.

Please verify the password manager on your browser and delete any password stored for LastPass on it and the issue should no longer occur.

I have this problem, but it's restricted to Microsoft Edge. Needs to be submitted as a potential bug.

I have deleted the password stored for LastPass in my password manager - I cannot access my passwords, it is still autofilling with my LastPass master password.

This is happening with one of our Lastpass accounts but not the other. Very odd behavior. Would reinstalling the extension doing any good? We are using chrome.

Uninstalling the extension in Chrome and reinstalling it again did not fix the issue.

This is so frustrating and makes Last Pass unusable. I'll install another password manager.

For me, as well. I first noticed it a week ago. It seems like my passwords are fine until I click the "eye" to unhide a password. It shows the right value and then switches to my master password in a fraction of a second. I click Cancel to cancel the "edit" and it keeps my original value. This is while accessing the site on Google Chrome on a Win10 PC, it works fine on my iPhone app. For some reason, it fixed itself yesterday, but today it is back to its twisted ways.

According to support, from the case i opened. They are saying to uninstall the extension in the browser, and clear browsing data and then reinstall the extension. I will be doing this today to see if it works.

I just tried that and it worked for a few of my saved passwords, but when I click the "eyeball" to view some of my saved pw's my master pw is still getting pasted over the site pw as I watch!

Once again, this is on Win10 in Google Chrome. It works in Win10 in Firefox and on my iPhone in iOS 17.5

Same here. For me on MS Edge is working fine but Chrome has the issue.

Clicking the eye shows the correct password for 0.5 sec, then it shows the master password on all of my credentials.

I always click Cancel, so thankfully so far I don't have any changed passwords yet. If I would click OK then the selected password would become same as the master password.

25 years on the net and I can't recall a single time I had to login and complain about an issue but when its ALL your Passwords, Credentials and private data across ALL Devices, that has to do it.

Idea was higher productivity and security. Now I have to wonder level of competence and security of LastPass crew.

No security expret but if the software casually displays my master password and does not care to comment as if its some little bug, one has to wonder.

If our security information is compromised, we need to know. Now.

This has been happening to me for months. It doesn't look like LP is interested in fixing it so I will be looking around for something else that works.

So far, uninstall the extension, clearing the browsing data and reinstalling the extension has worked for me.

Iyou still have problems with this issue after doing this, create a case with their support. They do not monitor these forums.

Is this due to confusing the login popups from LP with those of Google pw manager in Chrome? I had to disable Google offering to save passwords to avoid this confusion.

Question: Is the entry to be removed the lastpass entry or the google password? What caused this to happen?

The solution on Reddit solved it for me. Makes sense, too, because Chrome puts in the password anywhere where there is "Lastpass". I had this going on for months; after deleting the Laspass master password from Chrome password manager the issue is no longer present.
