Sadly, I turned on 2 factor authentication, thinking that LastPass would work like every other online web site I log into that has added this feature. I thought LastPass would SMS text me a code and I would just enter that and be logged into my LastPass account securely. Unfortunately, LastPass asked me for the code from their Authentication App which I downloaded on my smart phone but which I could not get to work. Do not ask me why? Obviously it is a customer operator error and I am getting too old for this nonsense.
Anyway, long story longer, this turned out to be a Catch 22 nightmare for me that I could not figure out for days. Somehow, by the grace of God, I stumbled my way through and got an email code and then an SMS text code using my web browser logon only without having to use the smart phone authenticator app and it took me an hour but I finally figured out how to turn this 2 factor authentication garbage off. Needless to say, this was a terrifying experience to lose access to all of my ids and accounts. I wish LastPass (or should I say LastPast) would simplify their 2 factor authentication to work like all of the other web sites I use. I do not use LastPass or most apps on my mobile phone because I do not want all of that. I delete the app.
Am I in the minority of people who think this should be fixed and simplified?
When is 2 factor security not secure? When it locks customers out of their LastPass accounts without providing them with access to support, the community or help. I lost access to everything. Who came up with this terrible way of doing business with customers?
I used to like this web app and recommend it. Now, I do not like it at all. I am getting too old for this nonsense. Please forgive my frustration. I am usually a lot more patient than this but this really scared the you know what out of me.
