I have added my details to the vault, yet lastpass does not populate them. Why?

I tried it a number of times and it never remembered my details. I raised a ticket with LP and they told me this:
In the web browser extension, you can click "add item" then scroll to the bottom of that list and select "save all entered data" and this saves at least the customer id.
Assuming you are referencing this login page, there is not enough information there for LastPass to identify the form as a login form. The new version of form fill does try to learn from what you are typing into fields so if you do login manually we should save the metadata for that input on your password vault record so that next time around we can fill it for you. You can also manually do this if you edit your password record, click on the wrench icon and add a text field and password field with the correct id/name of the input you would like to automatically fill.
