Recently when I click on the Extensions icon in Chrome or Edge and then click on LastPass in the extensions menu, a LastPass image appears alongside the Extensions icon and then nothing happens whatsoever. Is this a known issue?

Sorry, that is not normal LastPass behavior.

Since the problem began have you fully rebooted the affected device and/or re-installed the LastPass app?
