The problem is (this is actually for my daughter's lastpass account) that my daughter doesn't remember her password. Well, I should say, we have the password. I stored her master password in my vault, for this very reason. So I know we have the password, but we can't login with it and get an error saying the id or password is wrong. I had created several OTP for her, and I saved those in my vault also. So using those OTP's, I can get her logged into her vault, but to change the password LastPass requires you know your old password. Again, I'd argue we know it, but it apparently got corrupted and LastPass won't accept it. So even though we used a OTP to gain access to her vault, there appears to be absolutely no way to reset the current corrupted without knowing what the current corrupted password is.

Welcome to the LastPass Community.
About your issue, the best practice isto update the master password from your vault settings, you need a one time password only for recovery, but if you know the master password, you can update it from your account settings
