Can't find QR code for LastPass Authenticator

My Authenticator app doesn't list Last Pass. If I hit the + sign, it wants a QR code. Where can I find the QR code? Everything I googled says to go to my last pass account settings on my laptop and go to MFA options and enable the last pass authenticator. And the instructions will say when I enable it it will give me a QR code. That NEVER happens. I've disabled/enabled many times but never get a QR code. The MFA options shows the authenticator is enabled, but Last Pass isn't listed in my mobile phone last pass authenticator. When last pass asks me to use the authenticator to verify my login, I can never do it and have to choose send SMS code instead. I'd love to get specific instructions on how to get a QR code so I can add it. Or give me instructions to manually add last pass to my authenticator app (Service, Account, Key).

Sorry, I had the wrong product in mind.

Try a different browser, preferably one that still has its default configuration. When you click enroll after enabling LastPass Authenticator, a new tab should launch with a wizard to pair a device and setup a backup phone number. Browser settings or popup blocker extensions might prevent that from happening.

You should be able to access both the QR code and private key for manual entry from the configuration screen. There are screenshots in the documentation linked below.

That's for the Google Authenticator app. I need the QR code for the Last Pass Authenticator app.

Thanks so much for your help. I tried another browser, but not getting any popup for the QR code. I just installed Google Authenticator and I was able to get a QR code no problem. So I'll just use that one.

Go figure. I have been struggling with the same problem, being an inability to use my Last Pass Authenticator for my LastPass account. I had numerous other applications using theLast Pass Authenticator, but I could never generate a barcode to enroll myLast Pass account on the Authenticator. So, I kept my Google Authenticator solely for the Lastpass account.

Well, lo and behold, if I go to the Google Authenticator on my web access to the LastPass multifactor settings, and edit the Google Authenticator so that it generates a barcode, I then used that to successfully register LastPass on my LastPass Authenticator! I selected the add account + sign on theLastPass Authenticator, scanned the Google Authenticator barcode on my computer, and it added the Lastpass account!

After fumbling around for a glorious hour I finally figured out the real solution so figured id share here

1. Disable Last pass authenticator and then re-enable it .

2. If it was linked to your last pass account previously you'll want to edit so you can re-start the mobile app set up process again... and presto - you have the ever elusive QR code

I tried this but don't use Google authenticator so am unfamiliar with it. I did get the Google authenticator listing in the LP MFA interface to generate a QR code, but when I pointed the LP authenticator app on my phone to the code, the LP authenticator app produced the 6 digit code on the screen with the turning timer icon next to it, but this action didn't seem to associate the LP authenticator app with my LP account -- when logging into my LP vault on my laptop or phone, the LP authenticator app on my phone remains inert and unresponsive.

Still not getting this, would greatly appreciate some help.

1. I disabled then re-enabled the LP authenticator app listed in my vault MF options via my laptop LP interface.

2. Don't understand the next instruction "if it [the authenticator app on my phone?] was linked to your last pass account previously you'll want to editso you can re-start the mobile app set up process again" [Edit what, where? I had uninstalled and then reinstalled the authenticator app on my phone.]

The LP help instructions for the authenticator app seem to actually be written for the business authenticator, not the "Authenticator App" for personal accounts.

Perhaps LP can improve the LP authenticator listing in the LP MFA interface to be as fully featured as the Google authenticator listing, including the commands to generate a QR code on demand. The Google listing seems more robust and reliable.

Is this solution for the personal version of the authenticator app for phones rather than the business version? When you say "try a different browser" you mean open my LP vault on my laptop in a different browser, correct?

This problem persists when enabling the LP authenticator app in all browsers I have installed on my laptop: Firefox, Brave, Chrome. I receive no errors, every step seems to produce the correct response, but I never get any QR code screen.

Is there a work-around for this issue, other than continuing to use SMS codes?

Don't click on "Go to Solution". Look for contributor Katmeat on this page. That solution does work.

But in the end I disabled the LP Authenticator in LP and deleted the app because I had issues again (sorry, forgot which).

I now only use MS and Google Authenticators.

Thank you SO much for posting this, last pass authenticator lost ALL its freaking settings and I have been unable to fix it as no matter what I did I couldn't get a bar code.

You have saved me from cancelling my LP account and finding another password manager which was my next step.

I don't have issues with the Google Authenticator app, but I am not sure it allows for authentication with fingerprint. So far I have entered the codes. Based on this article and because I have the MS Authenticator for work, I now disabled Google Authenticator for LP and enabled MS (they cannot be used both). The article explains that MS and LP Authenticators have backup, Google app does not.

Enable the scanner in MS app in Settings > Screen Capture > Slide toggle to on.

Enable MS Authenticator in LP account settings.

The scanner in the MS Authenticator will show up after you click on the 3 dots > Add account.

This works flawlessly. Then you only have to confirm this change in your LP account with a code once.

For a change, MS is it!

Thanks, it was your post that got me back in again. Google authenticator constantly loses its settings which is why I moved to lastpass authenticator

over 11k views, really?! sorry, I like lastpass, but the support on setting up the lp authenticator is very poor and the amount of views this thread gets should be a clue. the video is for yubikey only, like who uses that? and the "Set up mobile app" is like where??!! A big thanks to this community though, I think I've wasted enough time and will just switch to good ol' Google.

Finally figured this out! As others said, go to LP settings and Disable LP Authenticator. Then re-enable it, but when you get to the screen that confirms you are activating 'LastPass Authenticator' in green text, click edit. There you can disassociate your phone and re-associate again. Thats where you get the QR code.

Hi, no need to add any google authenticator or anything too complicated. Log in to Last Pass through the website - then you can get into your vault. Go to *Account settings*, then *Multifactor options* tab, then *Pair device again* - then enter your password follow the instructions on there and you get the QR code to activate your Phone App - takes less than a minute
