This has been happening for a few weeks now. I just came here to post about it because it is such a pain.
This has been happening for us as well. I have not tried in Firefox, but I can confirm that it is happening in Chrome and in Edge. The first login fails, but the second is good. We are in the US.
I am admin for a business account and am having several users complain about this as well. Putting in a support ticket.
YES!!! Multiple users in my household an separate Windows 10 PCs. It happens with Brave and Edge, I haven't tried other browsers.
You MUST log in twice CORRECTLY to get logged in and access vault. If you try login incorrectly first, then correctly second, you still need to log in correctly a second time.
I just opened a "support case" with LastPass, you all might want to do the same. The more people they can contact for testing, so they can recreate, the better chance of finding a fix.
Same, and none of my web browsers stay logged in so i have to do it everytime i open a browser.
So far this is what LastPass support is saying (pretty much reboot). Weird thing, is that today, for the first time, and without trying any of the steps below, I and my family users are all able to login first try (using Brave and Edge). LastPass changed something is my guess.
We don't support Brave please ask one of your users to follow these steps using Edge.
Before you begin please make sure you know your Master Password first.
Remove LastPass extension from Edge
Clear the cookies and cache all the time/everything.
Close and reopen the browser
Accesshttps://lastpass.com/misc_download2.phpto download and [p]ass the extension to Edge
And test
I've now tried to break LastPass by restarting PCs, using different browsers, and it now logs in first try every time.
Something strange going on. I'm guessing there was a backend change made by LastPass. I'm sure they are logging our login attempts.
But, maybe I'm wrong.
Problem has started up again. I followed their test instructions and will see how it goes.
This has been happening frequently to me this week as well. Multiple attempts with the correct log in details, usually takes 4 to 5 attempts. Really getting annoying, will also log a support ticket.
YES! absolutely. If LP works, it's only because I've done a proper shutdown of my computer, and also browser cannot be opened with previous opened tabs. It either make me do the login twice (which is completely against any security measures), or it logs me in but VERY slowly, and it often just resolves by opening a 2nd new window of my browser to be able to get on with my work there. Obviously there's problems no one are talking about from the service provider.
Funny thing, is that it's not isolated to Brave Browser, as they seem to point at time after time.
***SOLUTION*** This exact same issue started happening to me in Firefox a few months ago -- LastPass would jump back to the login screen after the 1st login attempt, but log in correctly on the 2nd. A Google search brought me to this thread. I found the problem was caused by enabling Firefox's "Delete cookies and site data when Firefox is closed" setting. The solution was to add an exception for lastpass.com. Immediately, the problem was resolved and I'm able to log in successfully on the first attempt again. Other browsers experiencing the issue may have a similar solution. Hope this helps!
UPDATE: The steps above only worked temporarily before the issue started again. I found that simply clearing the checkbox for "Delete cookies and site data when Firefox is closed" DID resolve the issue, and it has not reoccurred since. Apparently, simply exempting the lastpass.com domain (with and without www.) isn't enough, and Firefox doesn't allow wildcards in exception entries. If someone can discover exactly which sites need to have their cookies preserved, that would provide a better, more targeted solution.
