How to configure a website with a Security questions

I have a banking website that occasionally prompts me to answer a Security question. The login sequence when this prompt is display is: 1) enter user name, 2) answer question, and 3) enter password. This is interfering with LastPass to enter the proper information. LastPass works fine when user name and password are only required to login to the site.

Do you have suggestions on how to work around this behavior (short of copy/paste)?

I think it may be possible to play around with forms to do this, but that would mean customizing it for each sites. I generally just enter the security question in the secure note and use copy and paste. Most sites rarely prompt for security questions.

For security reasons, make your security question non-nonsensical so that they cannot be guess like "What is your favorite color", answer "I want dumplings."
