I'm having a similar experience. I have passwordless login enabled but it keeps asking me for my Master password as well. Previously I've been able to use my master password, and then it will trigger the authenticator app, and then it will let me in. It's obnoxious and cumbersome. More recently, it won't recognize my master password. I had to update it the other day because it wasn't accepting my password. But now it refuses to take the new password either. And when I clicked on the option to send myself a hint, just to reassure myself I wasn't crazy and had in fact updated my password, it sent me an email with a blank hint box.
The truly irritating thing is that I shouldn't have to use my master password! I have both biometrics and an authenticator enabled to verify my ID. Yet it keeps going back to master password. I have a paid version of LastPass, and I've appreciated the mobile and desktop access. However, the "peace of mind" offered by having my passwords securely stored is negligible when the security mechanisms block me as well. It makes it a lot harder to use all of my accounts.
Most of the time, the passwords don't even autofill properly, which means I have to click on it to open Lastpass in the browser, which then triggers the ridiculous master password blockade. There are so many opportunities to reduce friction, and the software is failing on all of them.
Just got off the phone with support. I wasn't able to reset my master password through my computer, but I could do so through my phone because I had biometrics enabled. I had to click on account recovery and click the recover using biometrics. It then opened the new password entry form. I updated the password and confirmed it went through. I was then able to use the new password to login via web and phone app.
The support technician recommended that I disable and re-enable the passwordless mechanisms because they would likely be out of sync (possibly the cause of the recent issue where it refused to come up, forcing me to use my master password).
It is extremely worrying reading through the latest posts here... I had a few incidents of obvious intents to breach my accounts on FB, Microsoft etc, so went to change my master password for LP before changing any of the others, as my only logical conclusion at that point was that someone must have gotten access to it.
After changing the pasword, and logging in with the new credentials, my extension just showed me the vault icon turning for a prolonged time, then showed me as logged out again, with no messages indicating a problem or anything else. Managed to login through a new browser window, but when I clicked on one of my password to open it and login to change it etc, I was logged out again, with no explanation or warning.
I do hope someone form support will get back to answer questions ASAP, at this point I fear a major security breach at LastPass and we deserve some answers!!
Did you ever get a solution Malin Spain? I am experiencing this on my laptop. I'm still able to login on my iPhone. I have the same thing where I can't login with my laptop. I get logged out with no explanation via the app and on a browser.
Same problem here. Login with the Adroid app works fine, but it doesn't work with the lp-extension in a chrome browser. This is the second time this happens wihin a month, after years of problem free operation. What has been changed in lp or the chrome extension?
I had to disable the uBlock Origin extension to get it to work.
