Chrome extension copy password function doesn't copy passwords anymore?

When using the Chrome extension to copy a password, it doesn't seem to copy anything anymore. I'm clicking on the extension button, typing in a phrase to search for the proper account, then clicking the two squares button and clicking on Copy Password. When I then go to paste the password, I find that absolutely nothing has been copied to the clipboard. I have to go into my vault and edit the vault entry to copy the password.

This began a couple of days ago. Any ideas? TIA.

Sorry this isn't an answer. I am adding so that lastpass might take this issue seriously. This has been happening to me for months. It started working again a few days ago but today it is broken AGAIN. I click copy username/password, It says successfully copied then it pastes the last thing that is in my clipboard, which is not the thing I copied from the lastpass chrome extension. I click the lastpass copy button again, same thing. When I click copy nothing is added to my computers clipboard. Lastpass, maybe you shouldn't say "successfully copied" if nothing was actually copied.

Same I am just doing what the last person did to get it on their radar. Same symptoms as everyone else. It's also happened in Chrome, Edge and Brave. I will uninstall and reinstall it. Sometimes that works, sometimes it doesn't. If it does work, it's not permanent and keeps happening just like this. I don't want to pull the "I'm leaving" card but this is the kind of annoyance that would do it.

My hack for now: Using the windows desktop version (yes, there is one) and setting favorites for applications / sites that don't auto populate. it's only one click to copy that password over now.

STILL SHOCKINGLY annoying that they can't fix this. That LastPass's CEO isn't having other HBO style silicon Valley tech-bros, venture capitalists, and Google employees banging on Sergei's and Larry's door to get this bug fixed.

I found a solution for Chrome.

Extensions->Lastpass three dots menu ->View web permissions

There is a list of permissions, search for Clipboard, set in "Allow".

Done.

The extension should recognize that the permission is not set and ask or warn or something, but anyway, just set it to allow.

Thanks for your reply! It did not work unfortunately. The LastPass extension does ask permissions initially but I experience the following. When i want to use a login/password I open the extension plugin from browser I search for login copy username/password but nothing happens. When I go to a different browser tab open lastpass plugin select Account, Select Warnings, select Vault and then search for login and copy username/password it does work. There is something deeper in LastPass and browser that prevent previous expected behavior.

FWIW I had the same problem for months but solved it by uninstalling and reinstalling the extension. Only then did it ask for permissions to edit clipboard entries and started to work.

Support on this topic is abysmal and frankly, LastPass should be embarrassed about this.

It looks like one other solution to try, in chrome at least, is to click on the extension icon, choose account, and then 'About Lastpass'.

There's some 'enable native messaging' nonsense that seems to have solved it for me, but we'll see.

Unfortunately the "native messaging" thing did nothing for me. (Not surprising, since I don't have any NaCl app installed that would communicate with the LastPass extension anyway.)

It's very frustrating that this still received no attention. Isn't it a core feature of the product?

This is what I had to do to get it work reliability in Edge/Chrome:

1) You have to right click on the LastPass icon and click "View web permissions". Then scroll down to "Clipboard" and change to "Allow". It won't look like it changes but if you refresh it will change.

2) You have to right click on the LastPass icon again and then click "Extension options". Go to "Advanced" and then uncheck "Clear clipboard after this many seconds" and save.

Note: When you first open the browser, it won't copy the first password. However, after a few seconds, try it again and it should work. Then, it should work after that until you close the browser and open it back up.

Uninstall & reinstall worked for me. First time, after reinstall, I tried to copy a password, I got a pop-up about giving Lastpass permission to use cut & paste, I allowed, and all is fine now.
