I can't use TouchId on multiple devices?!!

Question

I'm being told by support that I can't enable TouchId on multiple devices?!!

That seems like a CRAZY limitation for a new feature?

Does anyone have any more details or know if they are going to fix this? Being forced to only use TouchId on one of several laptops/mac minis that I own seems CRAZY.

I'm all Apple - so just need TouchId on each device.

That's what any user would expect IMHO - why on earth is that not possible? Why would you require it to be different?

Hi, @david​

It depends how you are setting up passwordless login.  At this time, you can use a FIDO2 authenticator for passwordless login (desktop biometrics or a security key) only on a single device.  If you want to enable passwordless login on a second device, you would need to use a different FIDO2 authenticator on each device.  For example, if you set up passwordless login using a security key on Computer A, then you could only set up passwordless login using desktop biometrics on Computer B.
