In chrome why does an old password get inserted as the current password in a site entry I'm editing

i'm using LastPass free on chrome. I go into the vault and update the password on one of my site entries (eg for www.dropbox.com say). I save that. Then I go into another entry (eg www.ebay.com) and LAstpass automatically inserts the password (for www.dropbox.com) into the password field! This doesn't happen in any other browser. I expect flushing the cache will fix it but I don't want to do that every time i edit something in lastpass vault

No. Unfortunately neither this nor signing out and shutting down chrome nor cache clearing had any effect :(

I will use Firefox instead

Check the saved passwords in your browser's internal password manager, and delete anything related to LastPass.
