Welcome to the community!

Once a stored password, secure note, or item has been deleted from your LastPass vault, it is sent to your "deleted items" repository; and these items are automatically deleted after 30 days.

Regarding those shared items you are mentioning, if you upgrade to Families, those items can be shared with your wife, and she will need to move them to her private vault.
