how to merge passwords and passkeys for the same account

The passkey business is really confusing. Lastpass seems to create a new "record" for the passkey instead of keeping it with the account info that also has password/username. For google/amazon etc. I never know which the one to use. The passkey should be merged with the other account info so I have one "record" for each account. This is getting very messy very quickly.

this is expected behavior in LastPass today, and there usually isn’t a way for end users to see device affiliation for passkeys inside the LastPass UI.

Why do I need to store passkeys in a password manager if they’re device-specific?

Think of it as a way for LastPass to store the credential metadata so it can facilitate login without exposing the private key.

How do I know which device it belongs to?

Most password managers (including LastPass) will show device information or a label associated with the passkey. For example:

“Passkey for iPhone”

“Passkey for MacBook”

This helps you identify which device originally created the passkey. If you see multiple entries, they correspond to different devices registered for the same account.
