Can't log in to LastPass web vault when extension is not installed

I have tried on Edge, Chrome and Firefox. When I log into my LastPass account and the browser does not have the extension installed, a red spinner is in the middle of the screen and my entire page is greyed out.

Clicking around, scrolling, hitting escape, hitting refresh, nothing works to clear the spinner. I am unable to access anything. In fact when I hit refresh, it wants me to log in again but in the top left hand of the login page it shows me logged in.

I do not want to install the extension. I want to use a computer to log into my account from anywhere in case I get stuck, lost my phone, etc. So it may be a friend's computer or let's hope never a public computer.

UPDATE: Our developers believe they have identified the issue and resolved it, so you should no longer see this issue and should be able to log in to the LastPass web vault without having the extension installed.

Our developers are aware of an issue causing users who do not have the LastPass extension installed to not be able to log in/use the web vault and are working on a fix with high priority as soon as possible .

Currently the workaround is to install the extension until the web issue has been fixed, or to log in to LastPass on a mobile device to have access to saved credentials.

I will update this thread once this issue has been fixed as well, and have marked this post as the solution even though the issue is not fixed just yetso that new viewers of this thread can easily find this post to find a workaround and let them know a fix is on the way.

Just to note, I have the same issue whether browser is Chrome, Firefox, Edge, or Internet Exploder (I mean Explorer).

It's not you or your computer. There is a problem. I just reported the same problem a few minutes ago. It has been that way all day today.

Since I cannot use the extension at work, I am forced to login to the web page and use my vault from there. Today, I cannot get into my vault there, even though I login correctly. The page never fully loads.

I waited to post an issue until I got home in case the problem was the corporate firewall. Unfortunately, I have the same behavior at home. I get the login screen, enter my username and password, and then the response page does not fully load. See screenshot. Notice the spinning read circle. It will do that all day and never return.

I have the same issue at home, so I now know it is not the corporate firewall. Fortunately, I have the extension loaded at home, so I can use lastpass here, but I'm dead in the water at work.

Since this is a multiple location issue, it is either my account, or your web page. I'd appreciate help either way.

Same problem here for 20+ users. Indeed tried all three browsers without extension and none of them are working. They all end up stuck in the red spinner with the contents of the vault shown in the background. Maybe unrelated but we use 2FA Yubikeys.

I have the same issues today, tried various browsers and with extensions off. Can confirm having the LP extension running does clear the issue but that hasn't been needed before and as others I would rather have it off.

This solution is not acceptable to me.

I am unable to install the extension in my corporate environment. I do not have that ability, and IT staff will not do so. I am also not allowed to have mobile devices in the office, so I am dead in the water with respect to LastPass until this issue is fixed. There was no problem until just recently, so whatever was changed is what needs to be undone.

This doesn't appear to be the case for my login. I am only able to login to the webvault via the chrome extension still. I get booted back to the login each time I login via the web.
