Last pass extension stops working after a while on safari, the auto fill no longer works, but you can copy the password by clicking on icon in title bar.

So when I First launch safari if I got to a website with a user id and password I'll see the LastPass icon on the right and if I click on it I can pick the website and it'll fill in the user id and password. After a while this stops working and instead it just shows the plus sign and wants to add a password for the web site, but the icon on the title bar still allows me to pick the user id and the password and copy them individually which is nice, but it's a pain that it doesn't just work properly.

If you have automatic updates turned on by default, then you should now have version 4.151.5 for Safari.

Please let us know if you experience any further difficulty with this version, and specify any new behaviors identified.

I have tried all of these steps before I posted this, as a final recourse I will once again try to uninstall the last pass extension and reinstall, it often takes a day or two of safari running before it gives up working.

So I can say this doesn't happen on my windows machine running edge, I've not tried it much with Edge on the MacOS machine I will do that and report back.

Reporting back as of 2 days ago I had completely uninstalled then reinstalled the Extension, and restarted Safari, this morning I'm back into the case of the top menubar piece shows me passwords, but the text entry fields on the web page does not. I've done a fair amount of surfing and sleeping the Mac in that time, at the same time I installed it onto Edge on the Mac and it's still working there, but I haven't done near the amount of browsing with edge that I have with Safari as that's my default.

Let's try the following:

Open your LastPass browser extension.

Go to the bottom right corner, click on Account.

In the new menu please go to Extension settings.

In the new window please go to notifications in the left side panel and scroll down, please make sure the option "Show autofill icon in fields" is enabled.

Please let me know if that will fix the issue.

I'll give that a try, I checked the setting and it's on, and as I said the item appears when I First launch safari but several sleeps of the machine later the icon appears but the option to fill the correct site data does not, it just asks me to add a new password for hte site, but as I said again the title bar has the correct information.

I face the same issue on Safari, on a Mac Sequoia. On login screen with the credentials in the vault Lastpass presents a red icon with 3 white dots. After clicking Lastpass doesn't fill te credentials, but instead offers to record a new item in the vault. When recording a new item in the vault the issue persists and the newly recorded item is also not used for filling the credentials.

This issue is still happening, currently running Tahoe 26.1 and autofill is just not working at all.

Glad to hear you might have a line on a solution to this very frustrating problem. I'm using Edge on MacOS and that seems more stable but it lacks things like autofill of e-mailed or messaged confirmation codes which makes it less convenient

Same issue here. Autofill is not working for in Safari. macOS Tahoe 26.1 (25B78). Safari Version 26.1 (21622.2.11.11.9).

When I click the LastPass button in the username or password field, a LastPass dropdown appears, but no usernames/passwords appear, only a message that says "Start typing...". Screenshot included below.

Currently it seem like only way to use LastPass in Safari is to copy/paste the details manually.

Everything works fine in Firefox.

Just encountered the same problem.

Interesting detail, I am not sure it happens on both of my Mac, it might be the new one was working.

But my old one, which I fresh installed, I installed the extension, and I also have the behaviour that I only see a window popup showing 'start typing' , and the only way to get password is to copy from the vault. not optimal

Note, in case people missed above Microsoft edge works just fine with the lastpass plugin, it's only safari that's giving me issues.

We are actively working on the fix for this issue. Rough ETA is 2-3 weeks after we confirm the issue has been resolved in the new version.

Some users have reported that clearing the Safari cache and/or creating a new user profile will fix the issue temporarily.

You don't have to do anything once the fix is in place, as you will automatically be updated to the latest version unless you've blocked automatic updates on that device.

I purchased a Mac mini and Last Pass does not work and unable to add in the privacy and security section. Last Pass for Safari does not launch and not satisfied that paying for service and unable to to use software. I am experiencing many of the same concerns others have posted.

I’m still encountering the same issue in Safari, even after updating to the latest version of LastPass.

This is especially frustrating having waited so long for a fix.

Is there an ETA to get this software working? I need to figure out if I’m renewing LastPass or migrating to another password manager.

I have downloaded and installed v4.151.1 and I still have the issue. Closing Safari completely does change the issue. Autofill does not work at all. When I search for the site in Lastpass and then click on it, it just creates a black border around the entry I have clicked on and then does nothing. This renders Lastpass unusable as anything other than a place to lookup my usernames and passwords and then cut and paste them to the appropriate browser window. I'm running Safari v26.2.

This Safari plugin is working so bad since 6 months, every it is work worst. I'm wasting a lot of time with that issue.

If the problem will not solve before my suscription renew I'll change to Apple Key Chain.

There are several issues with the Lastpass extension on Safari; autofill is just one of them. I can't seem to get the extension to successfully recognize and match saved accounts from my vault with the actual website when visiting with Safari. The extension tries to save a new site/entry to my vault, which I don't really want it to do, but even then it does not successfully save the new entry. For the price of LastPass, I would expect much faster resolution on broadly impacting issues like this.

It is not working. I uninstalled Lastpass for Safari then went through the process of adding it again from the Apple Store. I'm using Safari 26.2 and Lastpass for Safari v4.151.1.

Here is an example where I'm trying to log into HomeDepot.com. Not only does it not allow Autofill, it doesn't even recognize my search for the domain in my LastPass Vault. But I assure you it's there.
