The rest of the message continues You have exceeded the maximum number of failed attempts and have been logged out of LastPass. But I haven't been trying to sign in and my device is with me the entire time. iPhone 14. Any ideas?

Welcome to the LastPass Community.
Typically when you use Face ID to 'unlock' the trusted LastPass app, it requires that the LastPass credentials be entered recently into the app itself.
I would suggest trying to re-install the LastPass app on your iPhone and see if the permissions can be granted again through iOS.
If that has no effect, please update your account password, which will re-encrypt your password vault completely.
