Cannot backup Authenticator without switching devices

I wasn't aware of this limitation until I installed the LastPass app on my new mobile phone. I switched the active device to my phone to see the outcome. Now, I want to switch back to PC as my main active device, and I did, but the problem is that I have only one remaining switch. So, to use the authenticator app, I have to switch to mobile phone again to be my active device, but by doing so, I will lose access of LastPass on my PC. I need one more switch to switch back to mobile and to my PC, so I can use the authenticator again when I log into my restricted LastPass account on my mobile. I wish they would let us decide as a final option to choose the best fitting device for our needs instead of this switching thing.

I cleared both LP and authenticator cache storage, then reinstalled them again. They seem to work fine now. I no longer get infinitely redirected to my LastPass app when I use the authenticator app to backup an account as it did before or to refresh my cloud storage. Thank you all for the support.

I understand, but when I need to backup my authenticator data to the cloud, it asks me to log in using the LP app, and this is when I need to switch for the last time. So, if I switch for the last time, I am stuck with the mobile as my active device.

I am not sure I completely understand your situation. However the LastPass (LP) app to manage your passwords and the LastPass Authenticator (LPA) are 2 separate apps. The switch limit only applies to the LP app that manages your passwords, not the LPA app. So you should be able to switch LP to Desktop and still use LPA to sign you in.

I did a quick test this morning and you should be able to activate the backup on LPA without consuming a switch on LP app. Here are the steps I followed assuming your active device is currently the Desktop type:

Make sure LPA MFA is activated on your account. If not, please activate it from your Desktop device:https://support.lastpass.com/home?articleID=2156966911
On your phone, open the LP app and login. After the MFA, you'll land on the switch screen. Stay there.
Open LPA > Settings
Enable backup, select your account on the confirmation popup

Let me know if that worked.

Thank you for the kind move; I appreciate it. But sadly, the problem remains the same. Now, I have three switches remaining, and I have my PC as the active device. So, if I switch the app 3 times, I will end up with the mobile being my active device.

# The solution: let us choose our preferred device in the last switch instead of setting us on a closed loop so we can utilize both: the PC LP app and the mobile authenticator app.

I've already done so. I enabled the backup option when it was a free feature, but the problem occurs when I add a new account to the authenticator app; it directs me to the LP app, which states that this is my last chance to switch. It doesn't allow me to back up the newly added account until I sign in to the LP app.

When you see the switch screen on LP app, you are logged in the LP app so you should be able to backup the LPA accounts without having to consume a switch.

I see, but for some reason, it doesn't backup; also, I can't add new accounts, as it redirects me back to the login screen and I have to log in by consuming that switch.

Hi ! The solution you provided doesn't work for me((( I'm stuck with my mobile as the last switched device but I do not need it anymore, I need only the desktop version of the app. But it doesn't work ((( I have no opportunity to enter services anymore((
