I often run in to times where I'm filling out a form and the LastPass icon covers portion of what I'm typing. It would be nice to have the icons be configured with transparency so that I can see whats being typed behind the icon.

Welcome to the LastPass Community.
While it is not currently possible to make the LastPass form-fill icon invisible, we are aware of this conflict within smaller forms and plan to have a solution in future LastPass versions.
