Lastpass extension won't link to my firefox browser

I have been using the LastPass Premium extension with firefox for a long time. Due to a hacker attack, my computer had to be recently wiped, and I am in the process of setting it up again. I was able to get my firefox bookmarks back, and the extensions back, except LastPass did not show up on the browser extension area, even though it was listed in my extension list. It was also not working to add passwords when needed. So, I tried adding the extension again, but it still did not show up. So, I tried deleting it from my extensions list and tried downloading and installing it again. Still, it does not show up on the browser's extension bar. It also does not show up any more in the extensions list. The only difference between the computer before the wipe and after is that I am using Norton 360 instead of Webroot for security. But I don't know what that would have to do with it. LastPass is the only extension that is giving me problems.

Can anyone help me?

Well, strangely enough, while the adding of the lastpass extension was still doing it's hamster wheel thing, for the umpteenth time, and getting no place, we had a power outage that lasted two hours. When the outage was over, my web tabs all came back as before and the hamster wheel had actually finished and was labelled "enable". I clicked on it, and miracle or miracles, this time it worked. I have no idea why it worked or why it hadn't. It's a complete mystery to me.
