If it comes to choosing between brave and lastpass. I'll find a new password manager. I'm sure thousands if not millions of your customers will choose the same.
Same here.
I've been a paying permium user from the very beginning and while the experience has been far from perfect, I haven't regretted it either.
However, the decision to not even look at an issue just because of a wording technicality is a duck move, and frankly, I expect more for my money!
Yes, LastPass “technically” only supports Crome, not Cromium variants. But come on! At least look at the problem before you send longtime, loyal customers packing!
I'm leaning more towards Bitwarden. It's open source, meaning that if such a problem where to arise with them, the community would not have to rely on the developer to identify and fix it. All the developer would have to do is adopt the fix.
Hello ,
My name is Henry and I am happy to assist with your inquiry, and appreciate you contacting LastPass Support!
I am sorry about the issues you are having with the lastpass extension on Brave. I have escalated your comments to our team. At this time, there is no solution that I can offer but have reported the issues to our team to see if a solution can be implemented.
Thank you,
Henry | Customer Care
I have received a response on this request. Our development team is aware of the issue and will be working on a fix. There is no ETA I can provide right now. I apologize for any issue that this may have caused you.
Ditto. If I have to pick between them, Brave wins and I will go to Proton since I already use their secure email. If this doesn't get fixed soon, I'm done.
Well, I'm also only using Brave browser so GOODBYE LastPass! You just lost another Premium User.
It is funny that if you google Bitwarden, Proton Pass and others, you will find they too have occasional issues with Brave. I'm not sure why someone would switch over to another problem. Maybe it's not the password mangers but Brave.
I'm thankful that Last Pass is looking to fix the issue instead of ignoring it w/excuse that Brave isn't an official browser & taking the stand of fanboy like customer whatever above my message. I applaud the understanding that believing blindly in lack of comprehension reading fanboys are the major cause of corporation demise so better to ignore it. We have been staying w/ Last Pass thru breech of security which is worse than this issue but treating us as useful tools is neither forgiven nor forgettable. Thank you for looking into it.
@Henry Eduardo Ortiz any update on this? I have the same issue and many others reporting it here: https://github.com/brave/brave-browser/issues/39759
Maybe Lastpass and Crowdstrike share engineers and code bases? I will be switching our company from Lastpass to Bitwarden.
This has been a problem for a week now, with no fix in sight. Therefore, I'll make the switch to Bitwarden now. My Premium subscription is canceled and I'll be gone as soon as my vault is transferred over and I have confirmed integrity of the data. See ya!
You should resolve this lack of support. I will be leaving lastpass premium to import into Protonpass. Which sucks I've been using your product for a long time..
I made the switch to Bitwarden last night, super easy - there is a free plan, but I paid $10 for the year, which is a no brainer. I'll keep LastPass around for a awhile to make sure everything is in Bitwarden I need before canceling...
I note that the Brave Browser has been updated as per the link above. https://github.com/brave/brave-browser/issues/39759
It has placed a place holder for Reporting Observer API. There is an interesting meta question about how LastPass knows this if it can't use the reporting features, but it should check for the API before using it, or fail gracefully as not being able to use the Reporting API shouldn't be immediately fatal I feel. Presumably it is assuming if it looks like Chrome (or maybe if it is not firefox) it assumes it is there.
I use (& pay for) LastPass, I use Brave, so better support for Brave appreciated, although this is the only issue I've had.
I made a support ticket with last pass. I'm using the latest version of Brave for mac. Last pass responded they don't support Brave, but support Chrome. Of all the extensions to not work on the new brave version, this one is huge. It's perhaps the most used and most useful extension used.
I wish Brave would make fixing this one a priority. I've had to go back to chrome in the meantime just to have my passwords.
Plus one to the demand for LastPass to work in Brave Browser
I hate to change password programs, but I need this to work on Brave.
@mircogerstenkorn
Welcome to the LastPass Community.
Due to some of Brave's privacy limitations, LastPass does not function as intended there. That being said, it should work very similar to Edge if you tweak some of the local permissions for LastPass.
Hello LastPass team,
have you any advice on how to make LastPass work on Brave Browser?
@Filippo Migliore I'm afraid we don't support the Brave browser because of it's operational restrictions. Users have reported that the Chrome LastPass app has worked in some cases.
I've used the LastPass Chrome plug-in on Brave for a long while and it has worked fine, the point of the "support request" is that LastPass find if/when they have broken Brave rather than the users. Assuming you have automated testing it is likely just running the same tests you run against Chrome/Chromium on Brave, and expecting the same answers. There are now 80 million monthly Brave users, nearly 35 million daily users. I know this is relatively modest by global browser standards, but it about 1% of the world's population, and likely more than that of the LastPass's paying user base (given all your users likely have a browser, and are interested in browser security enough to part with cash).
