Version 4.99 causing blank auth window, breaking form-fill, forgetting trusted device

In the last couple of days, I have started getting multiple new tabs in my Chrome browser referring to MultiFactorAuthentication. There is no content in the tab. The only data is in the URL space. An example is:

Same problem over here with Google Chrome add on. Lastpass icon is grey and doesn't fill in the fields.

Yes, same here. Popup password fill is not working. It works from the menubar.

It has stopped working for me too, multiple browsers. Windows 10 21H2 19044.1706 (fully patched to 2022-05).

Interestingly I the release notes stop at 4.97.0 currently.

The behavior is what others have experienced:

Dedicated YubiKey dialog doesn't accept Enter key or clicking Authenticate. I have to completely re-sign-in when I open the browser, because at least the login dialog that slides over for the YubiKey still works.
Auto-fill completely stopped working, all sites.
The credential pop-up can't fill sites either, have to copy/paste username and password.

I'm seeing blank LastPass MFA authentication pages in Chrome on two different PCs.

This PC is Windows 10 Enterprise, with Chrome 103.0.5060.114 and LP plug-in 4.99.0. I think it's started this week. Normally I could load Chrome and complete MFA via my YubiKey to login to LP. Now, I have to use the LP plugin icon, enter my UN+PW, then complete MFA through the dialogue that process shows.

That tab is supposed to show an MFA quick login feature. You don't have to type your master pass, just enter your MFA code from your authenticator app. In my case, I've grown to LOVE this tab but it's been blank for a long time now. I've uninstalled/reinstalled the extension (in Edge and in Chrome), I've turned off other extensions, I've removed those extensions. I don't know how to get this to show the MFA login.

For me, all of them, for example google.com or logmein.com are not working.

I get a grey icon with a number. When hovering, icon becomes black.

I see similar behavior. In the forms I can select an account and click "fill", but nothing happens. Selecting from the LastPass extension button in the menubar does work.

For me it's all websites. The LastPass icon is red as normal and it works if I click on it and "FILL". It does not work from the popup window.

I'm having this issue. Additionally since the update every time I open the browser I get the YubiKey screen even though I selected Trust for 30 Days.

On top of that the screen doesn't work. I can fill in the number but it won't submit, either automatically like usual or by clicking Authenticate

This is for Firefox 102.0.1 on Windows 10

I used downloaded version 4.97.0.2 from the addon page at mozilla and downgraded to it and it's back working again.

In the last couple of days Google Authenticator MFA has stopped working as usual at start of Edge browser (103.0.1264.49) on Windows 10 Pro.

Before the last extension upgrade (07/08/2022 - version 4.99.0), when I started the browser with LastPass extension in logged in state, a new tab appeared with pop-up window for Google Authenticator TOTP, but now an empty new tab appear without any pop-up window.

There is no content in the tab too and the data in the URL space looks like "extension://b.........p/lp_toolstrip.html?browseraction=1&googleauth=1&trustexpired=0&trustlabel=&lplanguage=null".

As a result the extension gets not logged in status and requires to enter LastPass Master Password + GA MFA TOTP for login.

It seems the new extension release is the cause.

Yes, you're right. I forgot about the login issue. I'm also asked to log in every time I open firefox, even though I selected the "trust for 30 days" option.

Yes something is not working correctly. Had that 2 factor prompt pop up last night on my machine machine. The dialog took the Yubikey code but the authenticate button wouldn't do anything. I logged in again and it got me into Lastpass. Today my second machine also had the dialog and again the authenticate button didn't work. Had to log in again. I've never had this issue. Also I can also agree that the fields are not being populated. I have to copy and paste each field and paste them in manually. Since it doesn't populate I get the little 1 icon in each box and when I click on it I get the popup for the site and then I click on that and it doesn't do anything. Have tried multiple sites now. Decided to go search and see if anyone else was having LP issues.

Same. If the menu pops up opening my browser and I get the prompt for the Yubikey nothing happens. Icon stays grey and the page pretty much becomes non functioning. I can log in manually and it all works. BTW Brave (Chrome based) also had this problem. FF 102.0.1 and Linux Mint 20.3

Any attempt to go via the support site directs me to asking for a call back from support - I can't take a call as I'm at work.

Also experiencing this with Yubikey as my 2FA. Mine is with MS Edge (which is Chrome based). Tried clearing cache, uninstalling/reinstalling, etc.

Similar URL, just a white page on quick access:

I have a similar problem which began earlier this week on both Firefox and Microsoft Edge on a Windows 11 PC.

When I open either browser and enter the two-factor code to authenticate it doesn't respond. Going to the extension and logging in again using the master password and two-factor code succeeds in opening my vault but auto-fill doesn't work on any sites. Removing the Lastpass extension and reinstalling it fixes the problem until the browser is closed. On reopening either browser, the same problem returns.

This behaviour is the same on both Edge and Firefox.

Thanks for all the replies here, they were a big help in chasing down this issue. I was able to reproduce the problem and we are investigating the root cause.

I was only able to reproduce the issues with filling using our current form fill version. We are in the middle of rolling out a new version that was launched with the 4.99 release and this issue is not present there. If you would like to enable it you can do so in the vault under "Advanced Options" > "Use improved save and fill". We will keep the toggle there until the new version is fully rolled out on all platforms. If you have any feedback on the new one we would love to hear it.

Will post back here once we have more info on the original issue too.

I have these problems as well. I have temporarily set Firefox into its most permissive mode (save all cookies, standard security rather than strict) and it still does not work correctly. I can only fill forms from the last pass icon, and every time I start, it asks for my MFA code but the button to accept the code does not function).

I tried to reply to this thread yesterday but it seems my post got marked as a spam.

I'm seeing this issue with blank Chrome windows when I need to complete MFA auth but I'm using a Yubikey.

If I login to LP and the 2FA/MFA request is a small overlaid window in the top right of Chrome it's fine but the new tab to complete MFA (eg after reloading Chrome without logging out) is blank. I think this started Monday or Tuesday this week.

Latest: On Brave the login popup window doesn't appear at all. Page stays white and any logon box is either not there or simply invisible.

I was having this same issue with FF on Windows. I fixed it by reverting the LastPass add-on from the latest v4.99 to the previous v4.97.

Please do not download the previous add-on from any third-party sites! There's no way to know if it's legit.

Instead, you can download the previous version from Firefox directly,

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/lastpass-password-manager/versions/

Browse that page until you see version 4.97, then click 'Download'. Once complete you'll be prompted by Firefox to install it. You don't need to remove the previous version first; it will be overwritten.

Then, after the old version is installed, I suggest you go into the Firefox menu:

Add-ons > LastPass, then scroll-down the 'Details' page until you see Allow Automatic Updates.

Disable it, at least for now ...
