I've been a paid user of LastPass for years, using it as a Firefox plugin, and every time the interface changes I need to relearn how to use the system. I have no idea what I'm doing with this latest version.
I like to use LastPass as a launcher for all my web sites that need to be logged into. Here's how I used to use it:
- If I want to go to one of the websites I visit regularly, I click the icon in the toolbar, then click Recently Used, then the list of my recently used sites comes up and I can select from the list. This still kinda works with the Recents tab, although it annoys me that I can't change the default from "All relevant" (which seems to be like the list of sites that would come up on the old list, which I never found use for) to "Recents" which is almost always where I go first but I suppose I can live with that.
- If I want to go to a site that is not in the Recents, I used to click All Items then Passwords and I would see all the folders that I have categorized my shortcuts into. Expand the folder I want, click the shortcut I want and boom, I'm there. Where is that functionality now? I don't see it.
I have sites that I don't visit frequently so I don't want to add them to the Favorites tab. If I did that, ALL my sites would be on the Favorites tab and it would be chaos. Do I have to always open my Vault page and then find the folder there? Or are you forcing me to type in the name of the web site and search like the stupid Start Menu in Windows now wants me to do?
My way, I get to my web site in four quick clicks after opening the drop-down. I never even have to touch the keyboard. Now I need to open the drop-down, then my hand leaves the mouse to type the name of the site on the keyboard?
And if I'm honest, where I would just click, click, see the icon and click it, I now have to stop and think about the name of the site I'm going to. I realize it sounds kinda stupid, but it's like the difference between knowing which house your friend lives in and knowing what his actual address is.
I suppose that I can just use the browser's Bookmarks list to go to the site, then let LastPass fill in my credentials, but it seems the old way was more compact and efficient. Is there any way to go back to that?
