After I changed password iterations to 600000, my master password would not work.

After receiving the security bulletin, I changed my password iterations from 5000 to 600000. I was able to login with my master password as part of the change process, but afterwards, when attempting to edit my credit card information, my master password was not accepted.

Next, I "reverted" to the my last master password. That worked but my iterations also reverted to 5000.

When you "reverted" your password, did it just keep the same current password you had been using, since you didn't actually change your password? Or did you have to remember what your previous password was, which may have been something from some time ago?

Fortunately, it reverted to the password I was using. Not sure if I would have been able to dredge up the one I had prior to that.

I finally got a call back and fixed the problem. Hope it works for you.

It involved clearing caches on both LastPass and Chrome. Not sure which was the fix but suspect it was Chrome as accessing LastPass through Incognito mode already didn't have this problem.

Clear LastPass cache:

1) Open the Chrome extension and click the Account icon at the bottom right

2) Click "Fix Problem Yourself", first row

3) Click Clear Local Data, then click Refresh Vault. No popup, just an icon animation.

Clear Chrome browsing data:

- Well you guys all know how to do this...

I'll give the "Fix" a try and let everyone know whether it worked for me. Although the process should be quick, I want to make sure I have some time on my hands before trying it -- just in case I have problems. So it may be a day or two before I get a chance to do it.

Unfortunately, the problem returned the next day. Again, I had to revert my master password. And again, the iterations returned to 5000.

I am having exactly the same problem. The master password doesn't work on my desktop but it does work on my Android phone so I don't know what is going on.

If I go to my Account Settings in my desktop, then under Login Credentials, then Master Password - it says that I changed my LastPass master password on March 2, 2023. I definitely did not change my master password as I was able to access it only yesterday but I think I changed my iteration value to 600000 on March 2 so I wonder if that is causing all the problems. Maybe it's better to revert your password and let LastPass automatically update the iteration value to 600000as in their Security Bulletin it states that "all existing accounts will be upgraded automatically to meet the new minimum value (no customer action required)"

Sorry but I actually did nothing on my end except logout and log back in using my master password. The lady from Support did something on her end which fixed the problem (she mentioned killing something from her end). Sorry I couldn't add a fix to this problem.

I did try the "fix". It worked at the time, but the next day lastpass rejected my master password.

I had the same problem today with the Chrome extension. I couldn't open the protected items like credit cards etc which requires entering the master password even if the extension is logged in properly (which it was). For me the fix was simply to re-login into Chrome extension.

I tried the Fix Problem Yourself/Clear local data/Clear browsing data solution, but it didn't work for me.

To be sure I have the proper password, I tried opening Firefox and logging into the LastPass extension there including opening some protected credit card records etc, and it worked without flaws. So then I was sure I'm entering the proper password, so I did try to log out from the Chrome LastPass extension, and when I logged in again, everything worked.

I'm not ready to say this works, but here is what I did.

1. I used the instructions to increase iterations to 600000.

2. As before, lastpass didn't recognized my master password. I did not revert the password as I had done in the past.

3. Instead, on the same computer, I opened another chrome profile, (my wife's). She uses my lastpass account. I made no changes on her profile. I only checked the account settings. The iterations remained at 600000 and the master password worked.

4. I returned to my chrome profile. Instead of reverting my master password, I removed the extension. I then reinstalled the extension.

4. After reinstalling the extension, I checked my account settings, and the iterations remained at 600000. So far, my master password is still working.

5. If after a day or two, if my master password continues to work, I'll validate the process as a fix.

The fix provided bypavelt999is still working for me, so I will venture a "Accepted Solution" tag for the second time. Hopefully, this time is for real. Let me explain the steps I took to get everything working.

1. I followed instructions to increase iterations to 600,000.

2. The last part of that process is lasspass signing you out and requiring you to login again. I did that. In previous attempts, I could sign back in, but from that point forward,lasspass stopped recognizing my master password. This time I proceeded to the next step before testing my master password.

3. Immediately after "step 2", I uninstalled the lasspass extension from chrome.

4. I reinstalled the lasspass chrome extensions, and so far, everything is working.

I am having the same problem. Once I changed the password iterations to 600000, my Master Password dos not work. I keep getting a message/window that says

Master password update in progress. Try again in a few minutes.Dismiss.

It has been over 12 hours but I keep getting the same message. I even tried to change my Master Password but it would not let me.

Please help. any solutions?

Oh crap, that is rough. I was able to get into LastPass on my desktop, but NOT able to access my passwords on my Pixel Android phone.

It sounds like you're going to need LastPass to help you out. Unfortunately they are slow as hell.

Try REVERTING the password. It will change the number of password iterations back to whatever you had before changing it to 600,000, but at this point, who cares about that.

Thank you. I opened the Last Pass extension on Microsoft Edge (do not use Google Chrome) - there is no account icon at bottom right. The only option is to remove the app or delete it. Any thoughts on how I can proceed? Thank you for your help

Also, I changed my Master password a couple of months ago. Is there a way to go back and retrieve my account using my old Master Password. I have seen some posts in that regard.

Do you have access to another computer? If so, you could try installing lastpass on it and see if that works.

Another possibility is installing a different browser on your computer and installing lastpass on the new browser.

I realize both of these options will require lastpass recognizing your master password, but you have little to lose.

I just logged into LastPass on Microsoft Edge (I normally use Firefox). It IS in the bottom right hand corner, but it's not obvious and initially hidden -- you just have to SCROLL DOWN, and you'll see 4 icons for "Vault", "Generator", "Alerts" and "Account" at the very bottom.

Leave it to the rocket scientists at LastPass to make you scroll down to see these important icons!

I tried all the given suggestions and nothing worked.

I changed the iteration and master password.

I am able to login into LastPass using the master password.

Now, whenever I try to view any saved password then it gives a master password error.

This is really strange that LastPass is having this issue.

Thank you for your guidance. As I had mentioned, I cannot log into LAST Pass at all. It keeps telling me that my Master Password is being updated. When I open the last pass extension in Microsoft edge, there is an ability to open 'extension options' at the bottom left. Once I open it, there is no place to go and clear your cache or do the steps you mentioned in your previous post. I am stuck and I need help since all my passwords are on Last Pass.

2. uninstall the LastPass app in your device and reinstall the App
