Login using the browser extention requires multiple attempts

For approximately the 5-6 weeks, all login attempts using the browser plugin in Chrome or Edge require multiple tries to successfully login. My tests with Firefox have so far not had the same problem.

I have two other work colleagues that have the same issue, but we all have slightly different setups. I am using passwordless logins, and they are using standard password with MFA.

I can only assume we are not the only ones seeing this behaviour, so why is this still an issue after so many weeks.

I had the same problem across two browsers and spoke to support. I had to clear my browser cache full history, uninstall the extension and close down the browser. Then restart the browser, log in to lastpass online, install the extension from the prompt there and log in again. It now appears to be working properly. I will monitor over the coming days and see whether the problem recurs.

This is a wide spread problem. I also have a case open. Clear cookies and cache, reinstall extension, works as a temporary fix but the problem comes back.

That LastPass will not acknowledge this as a problem is alarming. The latest on my support ticket is to uninstall the extension, un-enroll from MFA, clear cache, then re-install everything. I have not had time to try that yet, but if I have to tell all my users company wide they need to re-enroll, it's going to be with another product.

I setup a brand new machine and had the same problem from the start. Asking users to clear their browser coolies, etc, is just a lame response from a bunch of support robots. What a load of nonsense.

Please @Dennis Rimolajust get the techs to fix the problem.

The features of LastPass are what has made me stick around for so long (14+ years now) , even despite "the breach", but I am starting to seriously reconsider my options.

Same here. I just re-installed the extension for another problem, i am going to try another password application and if it works with less problems, i am out of here.

I had the same issue and have been through the clearing cookies and re-installing the extension, but still had to log into lastpass extension twice. I found that if you have the option set in the extension to logout after a specified period of inactivity it always asks for password entry twice. Once I'd disabled this option - still have the logout when browsers closed - it works with a single login.

I am having this problem on my Browser Arc, on Windows 11.

For Lastpass to work, Each time I open up Arc I then have to clear my browser cache full history, uninstall the extension Close down the browser, and re-restart the browser, log in to lastpass online, install the extension from the prompt and login again.

I am starting to SERIOUSLY reconsider my options.

The one thing that has worked for me is to go to settings and uncheck the option either to log off when browser is closed or to log off after 30 mins inactivity.

I've asked why this is the case, whether they are aware of it and when it will be fixed. I'm still waiting for a response.

In another Community thread it was found that disabling the Account logoff on browser idle (extension) policy resolves this double sign in issue. This is disabling other functionality, so it's a workaround, not a fix.

LastPass themselves still has not acknowledged this problem and has offered no resolution themselves. LastPass's handing of this has been extremely disappointing. It shows LastPass is not suitable as an enterprise grade password manager.

I've been through every possible solution and nothing works, the Lastpass chrome extension is broken and they refuse to deal with the problem. This will be my last year with Lastpass. I hope customers flee and they go out of business for not caring about their customer's problems.

Well they'd better resolve it soon or they're welcome to lose a UC enterprise license. I shouldn't have to sign in twice to get into my password manager. Fix it, corpos. No one needs this.

Hello Last Pass? Are you listening? Do you care about this highly annoying issue that is months old? The "workaround" is to simply leave the plugin logged in, but that can create issues for some users like myself, so we are having to login to the Chrome extension 2-3 times which is absurd. Hello? Earth to Last Pass? If you no longer care to support your product I guess many will replace your software. You do realize Chrome is BY FAR the #1 browser right? That the browser is where passwords are needed the most?

Weirdest thing i noticed is, on first attempt of login through browser extension, although failure to connect, when i navigated to LastPass website i was authenticated. I needed to log out first then reauthenticate to have the browser extension connected and working properly. This is confusing and I'm thinking they are not reliable > no communication on the issue itself > too long to patch this.

There are multiple threads in this community forum about this issues. I pasted the links to several of them when I had a support case open for this (closed unresolved because I was tired of uploading logs and screenshots with nothing in return). LastPass just said every case is different and they need more logs to troubleshoot.

It was the community that found the workaround of disabling the "Account logoff on browser idle (extension)" policy. LastPass has done nothing that I am aware of about this issue.

Our subscription is up for renewal this year and I feel it is time to move on. LastPass has proved not to be an enterprise level password management solution. It's a shame because when it works it meets our needs, but when it doesn't work, we need support to fix it ASAP. LastPass has been unable to provide the level of support we need.

I don't buy their BS about "every case being different". I've had the same problem on a host of computers, Windows 10 home and pro, Windows 11 home and pro, work stations, high end gaming desktop, laptops, etc.

Their Chrome plugin simply does not work correctly and needs to be fixed, period. That would take them caring, then contacting Google if needed to find out why there is a conflict, then fixing the code. They simply don't care and don't want to bother. That's bad enough, but common sense says they are likely just as lazy when it comes to security, and that's scary.

Funny thing, there is NEVER a "glitch" in their system when it comes to taking my money every month, that always goes off without a hitch. Time to export data and switch before renewal.

What a Lastpass joke. The recommended auto logout time for website is 2 weeks? This multiple password attempts has been going on for several months, end of summer 2024. Like many of you, I thought I was mistyping the password, I tried first typing my password onto notepad then copy and paste on the logon. Same pathetic result, multiple login attempts.
