How do I remove Yubico as a multifactor option for a free account (edit is only for paid, but it didn't used to be, and now I'm stuck)?

A few years ago I used to use a Yubico key for my work account but I lost it and stopped using it.Recently it has been prompting for the key even though it is not the default mf option. However, when I went to remove it, I'm prompted to upgrade to use Yubico as an Multifactor option. Seems like it should default to invalidating it or at least allow me to disable it.

If you cannot disable through your online account settings, there is a specific location to disable Yubikey authentication requirements, which works for any personal account where you are the sole owner or Families manager.
