I am in urgent need to find a solution for my problem. I was going to buy a new phone and change cellular providers. I disable authenticator from my LastPass vault, then I uninstalled Authenticator from my phone. However, the phone I wanted was not available, but managed to change providers. This information is important to understand the mistake I made.
Upon my return home, I installed the Authenticator app on my phone and enabled the authenticator on my PC LastPass vault. When I enabled the authenticator, I saw that all the information for my phone was still there and mistakenly thought that no further action was required as it must have automatically recognized my phone, since I hadn’t changed phones. I logged off LastPass and tried to log back in, fully expecting to hear a ping from my phone, but nothing happened, the end result was being locked out from using LastPass on my PC.
I did not panic, because I could still use LastPass from my phone. However, the following day I tried to login to LastPass from my cell phone and received a message that my phone was beyond the 30 days Trusted device time period and because I had previously messed the up pairing of Authenticator and LastPass, I was locked out from using LastPass from my cell phone also.
Being a new user of setting up MFA and not knowing how to set up failsafes to prevent something like this from happening, I don’t believe that I can fix this problem by myself. I did create a ticket, but have not heard anything back yet. I am hoping someone might have a solution or can at least tell me that there is an answer to this problem?
