Lost access to LastPass Email

Hi

Today LastPass prompted me to verify my email address to before logging in, and I have discovered that I have lost access to this email (a protonmail I made several years ago and used exclusively for LastPass).

I still know my master password but can not verify the device without the email.

I have tried contacting the email provider and am unable to recover the account. Is there any way LastPass could assist me so that I can either log in without reverification or change my login email?

Hello Henry,

I''m having a similar issue and am stuck in an endless, unsolvable loop. Months ago, i changed my Lastpass Email to a new one, and have been using the service without issue for months. However, when i tried to log in today, Lastpass directed me to my OLD email, to verify the login (this was referred to as a"security email address", which I unfortunately no longer have access to.)

And since I CANT LOGIN, I have no way of getting in touch with anybody to resolve the issue. I had no idea when I updated my main email address that the OLD address would remain on file, and that i would need it to login (this seems not only counterintuitive, but also, if this email address is buried somewhere deep within my profile and settings, and I was not informed that I needed to change this address also, well anyway....you can see where my issue lies.)

If you would be so kind as to have somebody from customer support contact me using the email address that my Logmein address is registered under, I would be very grateful.

I input the Google Authenticator code and it was rejected.

Asked me to check my alternate email to recover.

I have a NUMBER of other email addresses and NONE of these show anything from Lastpass!!!

I can't remember the EXACT alternate as I have NEVER used it fro LP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This really is the last straw! The hack was bad enough, but this is ANNOYING.

I'm looking for another PW manager. This is too much trouble.

I finally decided to try another FREE password manager. I read a few reviews PCMAG's I think was the best.

They said Bitwarden was the best - just about everything is free. There is a reasonable priced Premium - but I think I can live without that.

I have used Lastpass for years, even paying the $1/month until they doubled it.

When they went to the FREE PLAN = PC OR Mobile - I tried a few others, but ultimately settled on TWO accounts - one PC and the other Mobile for free. It took a little managing, but I coped.

However, the hack last year and now this silly lockout - it turns out it's NOT an alternate email I was using, it was my LOGIN email. Finding the term "alternate email" in settings is IMPOSSIBLE.

SO, after 24 hours with Bitwarden? SO far so good. It took a little effort to IMPORT from Lastpass - it's error reporting of the CSV file from Lastpass is sparse - but look at the CSV row number to match the error code line and it's one or two around that. I just deleted them as they were rubbish. SO after 30 minutes i had imported my 600 passwords. Cards DIDN'T come in - I added them manually - coping from my Lastpass data.

PC and mobile sync.

A small learning curve, but I hope I never have to go back to Lastpass.

I am being asked to reset the pairing on MFA and its sending a verification code to a dead email. Pretty sure I set up an active gmail account for receiving alerts and notifications but it will only send to dead email . I am locked out of Lastpass as it wont let me log in without the inaccessible code

Good luck with that one.

If you don't have a RECENT csv password list (I did in an encrypted cloud storage), then moving to another manager isn't an option, as you need to get in to Export as a csv.

If you have BOTH mobile AND desktop as SEPARTE free accounts - you have to use a second email address, you can login to your mobile Lastpass and then EXPORT the mobile list. Be warned though, you only get 3 swaps from mobile to desktop and back, so make sure you get the export right before swapping out.

Importing the Lastpass csv to Bitwarden will take a few tries as the error message for each fault is sparse - but the row number helps you delete the faulty rows. NOTE NO PASSWORDS are imported until the csv is ERROR free!

Maybe a phone call to support - but they'll only help if you are Premium.

Only one issue with my Bitwarden transfer - my Android tablet was in a loop trying to get me to prove I was a HUMAN (pretty sure I am, last time I checked!). Had to download Edge and set it as my default browser (away from Brave which probably has too much security and pop-up blockers).
