My "Copy Password" button in Chrome's LastPass extension isn't copying the correct password...

This seems to have started a few months ago. Prior to that, it was working fine.

The issue is I'm using the Chrome extension and when I click the extension icon, type in a site I want to get a password for, then click the two little square icon and "Copy Password," it doesn't copy the right password to my clipboard.

If I go to "Edit Item" for that password, then click the eye to reveal the password, and copy that one, then it does work.

I'm curious if others are running into this issue, but more curious about how to fix it.

for the record, the basic troubleshooting steps (linked-to above) worked for me on this issue, in particular #2, clearing the local cache.

For me, I just disabled and re-enabled the extension in order to restart it. After that it worked like nothing happened.

Me too. Clearing cache didn't fix (#2). Reinstalling Lastpass extension didn't fix. Before this month, there are no results for this problem for four years. GoTo, you have clearly broken something in this release. Kindly fix it. Asking everyone to attempt local work-arounds won't scale. Please take responsibility\ownership of this problem.

Same issue here. I can uninstall the extension and reinstall it to get a popup to allow it to work for that day, but it stops working if you log out and back in again. Having to uninstall and reinstall the extension on a daily basis is unacceptable and a complete waste of time.

I did two things

1) clear local cache

2) reinstalled (removed, add back) the extension

That's when I got the prompt to "allow" the modification of copy/paste.

After that, copy passwords worked, and then I logged out of lastpass, rebooted machine, and logged back in, and copy password in lastpass works, the issue did not come back for me as opposed to some others on the forum. So I'm just sharing my success story, your mileage may vary.

Seems Goto don't monitor\groom their own forum. No wonder stuff doesn't get fixed when they can't see the wood from the trees. Leeching off the lethargy of customers is not a viable business model.

Copying Username, Passwords and TOTP keys is lagging/bugging constantly. Really annoying.. remove and reinstall fixed it for me, for about 1 day.. Having 1000+ passwords shared with several colleages in several (Shared) folders I can guarantee it is not fixed by just doing that over and over again ;0)

I had the same issue with a fresh windows 10 install, solution was found here, worked for me:

basically after removing and adding the extension back, it asks if you will allow LastPass to modify the info you copy/pasted or something like that, select "allow" then it works again.

I forgot to mention another thing I followed from the post before

3) right click the extension, click on "view web permissions", then scroll to "Clipboard", select "Allow"

I made multiple lastpass log in/out, rebooted machine several times, the issue hasn't come back yet, fingers crossed

Yes but problem returns. Allowing only applies temporarily. Asking the millions of LastPass customers to all do this over and over again isn't a root-fix. This new clipboard approval isn't fully baked. I think Goto need to just back it out and remove it until they're confident it works.

Fixes described here worked for me. For two days, then copying broke again.

LP is so bad now. Every update breaks something or makes a terrible design choice. Use Secure Notes? Well in their infinite wisdom, LP decided the latest product feature should be making them five clicks and about thirty seconds longer to create\edit. LastPass has reached the point that it's like a Ponzi scheme. Nobody who knows the truth about the product would choose to use it. Long term customers are deterred from switching by the upheaval of moving all their data to a new password manager. The press don't even include LP in roundups anymore. Abandon hope, all ye who enter here.

I am finding that if the on focus times out, or you haven't clicked in to the LP plugin for a while, that's where the copy/paste access goes AWOL. I find then, that I need to click into the password entry and copy/paste from there and that works. At this time, I don't know if it's a Chrome thing, or a LP plugin thing.

Another reason the temporary workarounds described here aren't a solution: reinstalling the extension resets all settings to defaults. Have to re-do the extension customisations. Some of these are a critical security concern if you forget. Eg auto-logout.

Same issue here, we've got 20+ users that are all frustrated.

The fixes above only last a day or so, it's very challenging to keep everyone on the team up and running smoothly.

LastPass, you need to fix this now!!

This is an expensive program as we use

the paid version, it's not a good experience so far.

Same issue is happening for me.....very frustrating.....the workaround I am using is not a secure one....I just have to leave the edit page open and copy from there. Very frustrating though....starting to think about moving to a new PW manager.

I had to turn on Allow in InPrivate to get the copy to work again. Right click the LastPass icon and click manage extension to see this option.

I had the same issue, Follow those steps

Remove the extension and re-installing again.

The first time after re-installing, try to copy any password, you will get a popup window (Allow or Deny). You will only see this window once make sure you don't miss it, otherwise you need to re-install to get it again.

Right click the LastPass icon and click manage extension, toggle the setting to allow in Private or allow in Incognito. Toggle means ENABLE for 5 seconds then DISABLE wait 5 seconds, then refresh page or restart browser. Worked with ChromeVersion 126.0.6478.127 (Official Build) (64-bit), Windows 11.
